About Us
Anna McCarty Carrier grew up in Morgantown and graduated from University High School. She went on to earn her B.S., MBA, and JD from WVU. She has been teaching entrepreneurship and management for the WVU Chambers College of Business & Economics since 2018 and previously served as the Community Business Program Lead of West Virginia University’s Encova Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship within the Chambers College of Business and Economics. In 2021, she assumed the position of Vice President of Chamber Services for the Morgantown Area Partnership. She is married to Dan Carrier, DDS, who recently opened his practice Mountainview Dental and they have two children (Daniel and Lena).
Janet Nelson Williams also grew up in Morgantown but on the other side of town–she’s a Mohigan. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from WVU in Political Science. She is married to Jacques R. Williams, who recently retired as a partner in the law firm of Hamstead, Williams & Shook. She has three children (Stephanie, Maureen, and John) and 7 grandchildren. She is active in the community; currently she serves on the Alzheimer’s Walk Committee, Promotion Committee for Main Street Morgantown and Vice President of the Sundale Board of Directors. She also recently retired from Hamstead, Williams & Shook where she worked as a paralegal and bookkeeper. Which brings us to where Anna and Janet met….
Anna came to work at Hamstead, Williams & Shook in 2007, and she and Janet became fast friends. They share many passions, including a love of good food and wine, cooking and baking and a creative bent that convinces them that they can fashion anything out of sugar or fondant and perch it on the perfect cupcake! When Anna decided to pursue other business ventures outside the law firm, they knew they had to find a way to keep working together …and so The Cupcakerie was born!
As the first and ONLY exclusively cupcake bakery in Morgantown, The Cupcakerie wants to provide you with the best cupcakes made with the finest ingredients. We offer a variety of cupcakes, including gluten free, sugar free, and vegan offerings, as well as some figure friendly choices. We are eager to cater your event and design original cupcakes to make your special day even more special! We would love to add a personal touch to your event, whether it is your wedding, shower, birthday, retirement party, graduation, Christmas party, office party, tailgate… or anything else you may dream of!
